According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China exported 10.153 million tons of steel in September 2024, an increase of 658,000 tons from the previous month, representing a month-on-month growth of 6.9%. From January to September, cumulative steel exports reached 80.711 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 21.2%. In September, China exported 487,600 tons of seamless pipes, a month-on-month increase of 17.10% and a year-on-year increase of 4.82%. However, from January to September, cumulative seamless pipe exports totaled 3.9593 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.88%.
In September, China imported 554,000 tons of steel, an increase of 45,000 tons from the previous month, representing a month-on-month growth of 8.8%. From January to September, cumulative steel imports amounted to 5.185 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.0%. In September, China imported 12,200 tons of seamless pipes, a month-on-month increase of 64.86% and a year-on-year increase of 32.61%. From January to September, cumulative imports of seamless pipes reached 87,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.23%.
In September 2024, China’s net export of seamless pipes was 475,400 tons, a month-on-month increase of 16.23% and a year-on-year increase of 4.25%. From January to September, cumulative net exports of seamless pipes reached 3.8717 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.22%.
