Pipe Billets: On September 3, prices at Shandong pipe billet plants decreased by 20-30 yuan/ton. The price of hot-rolled 20# pipe billets was 3,100 yuan/ton at Tiangang and 3,070 yuan/ton at Donghai; the price of continuous casting round billets 20# was 3,150 yuan/ton at Gangtou Special Steel.
Steel Billets: On September 3, the Tangshan steel billet index was 2,887.0 yuan/ton, with the settlement price of common square billets in Qian'an, Tangshan at 2,870 yuan/ton. The weekly average price was 2,934.29 yuan/ton, and the monthly average price was 2,954 yuan/ton. The price for traders, including tax, was around 2,910 yuan/ton.
Yesterday, seamless pipe prices in major cities across the country saw a slight decline. The national average price for 108*4.5mm seamless pipes was 4,460 yuan/ton, down 2 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. For raw materials, hot-rolled pipe billet prices in Shandong fell by 20-30 yuan/ton, and in Jiangsu, they fell by 30 yuan/ton. The futures market was bearish, and pipe billet prices continued to decline.
Pipe mills primarily relied on locked-in orders for sales, but shipping speeds did not improve. Although the prices at major pipe mills remained relatively stable, merchants lowered prices and increased volumes to facilitate transactions, reducing inventory. Downstream orders were mainly for just-in-time needs, and traders reported low profit margins. In conclusion, seamless pipe prices are expected to weaken across the country today.
